The tables that follow are segmented by bank total assets size in order to present trends across all segments of community banks (banks and thrifts with under $10 billion in total assets). This view provides a better perspective on activity and performance among the large population of community banks and thrifts that serve local communities across the U.S. And this state view provides additional insight as to where these community banks and thrifts are located. Data is as of Q2 2019 from FDIC Call Reports.
Deposit growth was experienced QoQ across all asset segments for Community Banks, except for Community Banks with less than $100 million in total assets.
Deposit growth was experienced YoY across all asset segments for Community Banks.
Several states stand out with significant levels of smaller community banks and thrifts (< $500 million in total assets):
Texas - $50 billion in total deposits
Illinois - $45 billion in total deposits
Iowa - $33 billion in total deposits
Minnesota - $29 billion in total deposits
Missouri - $29 billion in total deposits
Wisconsin - $27 billion in total deposits
